  • 217 miles long; 2-3+ weeks to walk; in 2023 fewer than 5% of pilgrims who received Compostelas trekked the Primitivo. Map & route info on GRONZE.COM
  • Starts in the city of Oviedo in northern Spain and connects with Camino Frances in Melide (it’s a 3-4+ day walk from there to Santiago).
  • Called “The Original Way” because it was the first established route to Santiago in the 9th c.
  • Includes the regions of Asturias & Galicia; it passes through the Cantabrian Mountains & is considered one of the more challenging trails.
  • The Camino del Norte (the northernmost route in Spain) has the option of connecting with the Primitivo in Oviedo. Another trail, the Camino San Salvador, leads north from Leon (on the Frances) to Oviedo.
